Escaping Algorithmic Feeds: The Inoreader Rabbit Hole

Went deep into an RSS rabbit hole over the weekend. Tested a few self-hosted sync setups before settling on Inoreader for its clean rules engine and keyboard navigation. Spent hours curating a focused feed list: arXiv cond-mat.mtrl-sci preprints, semiconductor supply chain wires, and independent personal blogs. Reading the web without recommendation algorithms or engagement bait hits completely different. Let's go.

SEMI Foundation Challenge: Scanning Acoustic Microscopy for 2.5D/3D Voids

Drafting my research abstract for the SEMI Foundation Research Challenge. Focused on high-frequency gigahertz Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM) for non-destructive void detection in heterogeneously integrated multi-die packages. In micro-bump arrays and hybrid bonding, acoustic impedance mismatches give exceptional sub-surface interface resolution that optical and X-ray metrology struggle to resolve fast enough for in-line yield.

Fall 2027 U.S. Applications & In-Memory Ferroelectrics Literature

Kicking off detailed application prep for Fall 2027 U.S. doctoral programs in experimental device physics. Diving into recent papers out of Penn State, Purdue, and UCSB on ferroelectric domain dynamics and 2D/ferroelectric hybrid channels for bio-inspired neuromorphic computing. Mapping out prospective advisors whose labs bridge cleanroom fabrication with physical modeling.

Open-Source TCAD Ecosystems & Device Simulation Frameworks

Joined the kick-off meeting for the Building Open Source TCAD framework. Commercial TCAD suites (Sentaurus, Silvaco) are immense powerhouses for fab calibration, but the steep licensing barrier limits accessible academic experimentation. Very curious to track how open-source drift-diffusion and mesh generation engines evolve for academic benchmarking.
